Object history
Kenzo Takada (b.1939) is a Japanese designer and founder of the Kenzo label. Born in Japan, he studied fashion at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo before moving to Paris in 1965. Takada opened his first store, Jungle Jap, in 1970 at 43 Galerie Vivienne. This garment was produced under the 'Jungle Jap' label. The label was later re-branded as Kenzo, as the term 'Jap' is considered offensive.
