The box is designed to look like a pig and moulded of mid blue plastic. It is an elongated shape with the ears; snout and eyes indicated as part of the basic shape and the tail curling up and away from the body. Printed in white on each side is WILLIAMS & GLYNIS BANK and the bank's logo of four inward pointing arrows. Along the line of the back is cut the slot. The base has been cut away into a square which is covered by the plate. 1. money box
2. base plate which fits into the hole cut into the bottom of the box; grey plastic with a locking mechanism. The lock is designed to hold the plate in place not for security.

Object history
References: Produced by the bank as an encouragement for children to save.

Money boxes and banks, designed for children's use, have been acceptable learning toys since the early 19th century. They are thought to encourage not only saving but counting skills. The bank did not trade under this name for a long period and became part of The Royal Bank of Scotland.
