Tapestry of woven wool and silk from the cartoon of Raphael. Saint Stephen, in a robe of red and yellow, kneels looking to the left with a vision above. Saul, in a blue robe and green cloak, is minding the clothes of a group of men throwing stones at the right. This is in reverse of the original tapestry. Green, yellow, pink, red and blue drapery.
The border, of stone caryatids and swags of fruit in colours of bronze and pedestals resting on grotesque heads in sharp yellows, is in a dark blue surround with a narrow red edge.
At the centre top, in a cartouche flanked by two golden cherubs heads, are the arms of Cardinal Mazarin.
