Waistcoat of black cut velvet with a diagonal pattern of trailing vine leaves in blue and brown silk. Cut with a full chest and shall collar and has a fitted waist fastening with four buttons covered in matching fabric. Two horizontal pockets. Lined with plain cream silk. The back and pocket bags are of black satin. There is a buckled strap at the back to adjust the fit.

Object history
Purchased. Registered File number 1976/3138.

When worn, the bottom of the waistcoat would just show as a continuous curve, dripping slightly at the centre front below the coat.

This waistcoat was included with a large collection of children's clothes which went to the Museum at Bethnal Green.
