Napkin of Linen Damask. The napkin is woven with a classical design. There is a broad border around the napkin containing a lyre, a griffin and a figure pouring water from an ewer. The central field is divided into stripes and these contain either a a formal leaf or a small geometric device, perhaps a lamp. Around the central field is a narrow border of scrolls and faces, and there is an acanthus border around the outside of the cloth. In one corner is an embroidered inscription; '1831 G.D. 24'.
