Napkin of linen damask. In the centre is a crest surrounded by six-pointed stars. The border around the cloth is of a meandering lace trail intertwined with flowers. In one corner is embroidered in blue the initials 'SP' and the number '36'. The crest is that of Sarah Oriel. Damask based on a satin of 8.

Physical description
Napkin of linen damask. In the centre is a crest surrounded by six-pointed stars. The border around the cloth is of a meandering lace trail intertwined with flowers. In one corner is embroidered in blue the initials 'SP' and the number '36'. The crest is that of Sarah Oriel. Damask based on a satin of 8.

The crest is that of Sarah Oriel who came from Ireland and married George Palmer, died 1795. Their eldest son, Thomas Palmer, married Elizabeth Schee in 1822 (see T.47 to 49-1986).

Family Tree:
Thomas Palmer (1702-1766) married Elizabeth;
George Palmer married Sarah Oriel;
Their Four children: Thomas, Philip, Felix, George (d.1814). Thomas married Elizabeth Schee (1822) and he was said by his descendants to have lived at 1 St. Martin's Lane and to have been a glass-maker. He has a country house at Hendon where he was buried at St. Mary's Church. His crest was a greyhound after which a local pub was named. (From the register)
