Object history | Registered File number 1992/159. Such is the potency of the Biba brand that several attempts have been made since the closure of Big Biba in the mid-1970s to relaunch it. None of these relaunches have had any connection or affiliation with Barbara Hulanicki, despite using the Biba logo and similar branding, and they have tended not to last particularly long. This blouse was manufactured under the first relaunch of Biba, in the late 1970s/early 1980s. It was acquired in 1992 as an original Biba piece, highlighting how easy it is to be deceived by the relaunch garments, especially as their labels look so like the original ones. |
Production | ca. 1980 relaunch, not endorsed by Barbara Hulanicki |
