Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Napkin of linen damask. In the centre is an Art Nouveau design, consisting of an openwork circle from which protrude small leaf forms on the ends of long stems. At the centre of the circle are four square shapes with rounded corners containing oval swirls. This over-within-a-square is repeated around the border where it forms the base of an arch into which more leaf forms hang down. The corners of this border are decorated with oval swirls within two triangles. The damask is woven in a satin of 5. Initials 'J.S.' or 'S.J.' are embroidered in white.
