A woman's gown of white cotton, block printed in a pattern of floral trails and abstract design in purple, blue and red. The gown is open at the front with elbow-length shaped sleeves. The bodice meets at centre front. The bodice and sleeves are lined with linen; the bodice fronts and two back pieces, lined, then stitched together. The back is cut in two pieces. The skirt is made of 3 widths of cotton and a partial pane. The skirts are pleated into the waist seam, which is straight on the waistline at centre back.
The gown has been altered for fancy dress in the late 19th century. A fabric-covered steel reinforcement over a strip of coarse calico, was added to each bodice front edge, along with hooks and eyes.
