Embroidered panel, a small oval shape of linen canvas. The ground is entirely covered with silver-gilt thread, embroidered in chain stitch. A series of diamonds are formed by lines of creams silk, couched with silver thread. Within the diamonds are simple sprigs of flowers embroidered with polychrome silk which is cut to form a chenille-like pile.
The oval, which is complete, has its raw edges turned in and covered with a lining of deep pink silk.
Attached to the back is a label which reads; 'THIS CLOTH OF GOLD IS MORE THAN 100 YEARS OLD AND WAS PART OF THE ROBE OF THE KING IRACKLEE; THE LACE IS MADE BY HAND AND ALL THE GOLD USED IS REAL. TURKISH...' The remainder of the label is missing.
