Book cover of of canvas covered with satin and embroidered with silver and silver-gilt threads, strip and purl, spangles and a little coloured silk in raised, couched and laid work. The design on the back and front consist of an oval cartouche with a soldier in armour and helmet with raised visor pointing to the sun emerging from clouds above. The spandrels are filled with a design of formal roses and leaves. The design on the spine is almost obliterated but appears to have consisted of a sun emerging from clouds between rose and leaf motifs. The binding contains a copy of the Bible printed in London in 1631.
