Man's overcoat of black wool tweed. Double-breasted, and with a large shawl collar of brown beaver fur. Cut straight. Eight buttons, but no button holes, but on the edge of each front are three black corded silk loops. The coat is lined throughout in black seal musquash. There are two hip pockets with flaps and a breast pocket and two inside breast pockets. The hip pocket bags are of khaki coloured napped cotton with black silk trimming at the tops. The right hand pocket is also fitted with a ticket pocket with the opening under the silk trimming. The three breast pocket bags are made of twilled brown silk with black silk trimming at the tops. The main seams are double welted and the hem has two rows of visible stitching 2.5 inches from the bottom of the coat. There is a centre back vent with a button fly fastening. The sleeves have cuff slits and three buttons and button holes to each sleeve. There are no cuffs but there are two rows of double stitching that match the hem of the coat, 2.5 inches from the sleeve ends. The buttons are black and are made of dyed bone or ivory.
