Chalice veil of red silk lined with linen and embroidered with silver thread, silver purl and silver cord in couched work and with coloured silks in satin, long and short and stem stitches. The embroidery is sized on the back.
In the centre, within an elaborate cartouche, is a shield of arms. The cartouche is surmounted by a cardinal's hat and tassels.
The swords and beehive are incorporated in the corner motifs of coiling floral branches.
The border has a running design of coiling leaves and flowery stems with running dogs and hares, beehives and female heads. At the corners are vases of flowers.
