Oval shape hat formed by natural coloured sparterie a single layer forms the very low dome of the crown and a double layer the broad brim. The shape is covered with two pieces of black plush. The top piece covers the crown and main area of brim and a second piece forms a one inch brim edge and then turns under to cover the underbrim terminating in a petersham ribbon headband. The hat is secured on the head by a tubular elastic strap.
