Physical description
Evening dress made from soft, gold velvet. The bodice and skirt borders are embroidered in a Renaissance type design in gold and white thread.
The bodice is waist length and pointed at the front. The neck is low and round, filled at the front and back with a frill of ecru net. Bands of the same frilling are arranged over the top of the arm. The embroidery is centrally arranged on the front and back of the bodice, which fastens at the side with hooks and eyes. The waist point is emphasised by a bead embroidered design. It is boned and silk lined and there is a buckram waist band marked as above with an additional label stitched on, marked in ink 'Lady Pearson'.
The skirt is slightly gathered at the waist and slightly trained with pleated panels arranged from knee to hem, two on each side. The embroidery is formally arranged around the hem.
There are facing panels of fine yellow wool at the centre front and back but the skirt is otherwise unlined.
