Chemise of cotton with cream satin ribbon and lace. White cotton trimmed at the neck and armholes with white machine-made lace, and narrow white satin ribbon tied in a bow at the top of each shoulder and at the back of the neck. The bodice is short waist-length, has a low cut and slightly pointed neck-line and is sleeveless. It is made with a shaped straight cut panel at the front and back, panels slightly on the cross at each side of the front and back and with a narrow straight cut panel under each arm. It fastens at the centre back with a tape reinforced black hook and eye fastening. All the seams are lapped and machine-stitched and all the edges and the waist are reinforced with tape.
