Apron

ca. 1830 - ca. 1840 (made)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Apron of black velvet. It is box pleated onto a semi-circular yoke and has a pocket let into each of the seams. Around the waist is stitched a silk cord with tasselled ends fior tying. On the apron panel is embroidered a horse-shoe shaped garland of flowers in satin and back-stitch in coloured silks in shades of pink, red and green, and two curved side borders of the same. The finish of the embroidery suggests that it was carried out by an amateur.
