Woman’s petticoat of cream-coloured calamanco (glazed worsted), lined with a slightly darker glazed worsted and wadded with a thin layer of wool. Sharp creases made during the glazing process remain. It is made of 4 panels of calimanco and quilted with bleached linen thread in a diamond pattern of 1½ inch squares. There are pocket openings in the side seams, bound with 1½-inch wide (3.8 cm) undyed worsted tape. The same tape binds the hem. There is a wide box pleat at the centre front, with pleats on the side and an inverted box pleat at centre back with pleats on the side. The waist is bound with ⅞-inch (2.2 cm) wide unbleached linen tape.
