Hanging of blue-green velvet embroidered with crewel wools in shades of blue, green, brown, pink, yellow, beige, cream and black. Highlights are embroidered with cream silk. It has appliqué borders and 'scrolls' of soft, cream coloured wool.

It has long, short and stem stitches with laid and couched work and is lined with linen.

The hanging is filled with the branches and foliage of an ancient apple tree. The central branch has been cut out and there are two symmetrical side branches. In the centre is perched a falcon and amongst the foliage is a squirrel and several birds.

Along the top of the hanging is an applied, inscribed scroll. The lower border is also inscribed with words.
