1300A-1888: A length of tapestry woven band of undyed linen and blue wool. Egypt, ca. AD500-700. The warp is of 3 or 4 threads. One edge is finished with two, thick lines of weft using two or more threads. The design is of a row of connected circles (guilloche) with floral motifs off the circles. Each circle contains a human head, some male some female. Some appear to wear helmets. The circles are bordered on either side with a row of hammer-like shapes coming off a thick line (blunt version of the reverse arcade). The piece has some staining and holes.
