SILKS, 7th - 9th century. Weft-faced compound twill, 1/2 and 1\2. Warp of / silk, proportion 1 main to 1 binding. Weft of silk of 2 colours, 1 pick of each in turn (in the 2 pieces on the left, 2 picks of each in turn). Woven for use as dress trimmings. From unrecorded sites in Egypt.
