The borders have additional decoration in the form of raised white stripes where a thicker cotton has been used, and each with four narrow bands of three threads. The hems are hand-stitched.

Object history | Registered File number 1971/678. This is a particularly large neckerchief and was probably the type which, combined with its pattern, was mockingly referred to at the time as a 'duster'. Folded several times on the cross along the diagonal length of the square and then wrapped around the neck so that at first the ends are at the back of the neck, and then crossed over and tied in a bow at the front. |
