Man’s waistcoat, the fronts of cotton velvet printed in a zig zag pattern of red, black and green stripes, overprinted with gold spots, the back of maroon woollen broadcloth. It has standing collar (cut in 1 piece with the front), wide revers, curving fronts each with a welted pocket, and short skirts reaching to the top of the thigh. The waistcoat is lined with ivory wool flannel; the skirts are lined with, and the fronts faced with maroon worsted twill. A ⅜-inch (8 mm) wide silver filé braid edges the fronts, hems and pocket welts. The waistcoat has a double-breasted effect with 9 (1 missing) passementerie buttons of silver filé on the right side, with 10 corresponding worked buttonholes and another 10 buttons on the left.
