Lock for a chest of wrought iron ornamented with brass rosettes; with hasp and key. Mark on key, BA with the arms of Barcelona. The oval lock-plate has four screws for attachment, with octagonal heads and ornamental nuts, and four studs with brass rosette, one attached to a bolt securing the hasp. The hasp consists of a bar with a shell ornament at the bottom, hinged to a plate terminating in a thistle-flower ornament. The key has a moulded bow attached to the pipe of quatrefoil section by a moulded necking and a cube bearing the mark in bass. Spanish (Barcelona), 17th century.
