Artist/Maker
Place of origin

This relief representing the Virgin and Child was probably made in the second half of the 15th century. Variant versions of the same composition exist at Berlin, in the Casa Prampolini at Geggio Emilia, and in the Palazzo Ducale at Mantua. The reliefs have variously been regardsd as Emilian and Lombard. Their relationship to paintings by the Master of the Pala Sforzesco suggests that they are more likely to be of Lombard origin.
