This bronze roundel representing St. Matthew was probably made in the 16th century Spain. This is in high relief and has been considerately chiselled after being cast. It is covered with a dark brownish-black patina.

Physical description

Roundel in bronze of St. Matthew gazing upwards to his left, holding a pen and ink-pot in his hands. In the crook of his left arm there is a small kneeling figure of an angle holding a book.
