This plaster model is of the hands of Count Camillo di Cavour, a leading figure in the movement towards Italian unification. Cavour was the founder of the Italian Liberal party and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia. The purpose of this model is unknown.
Given by the executors of Sir J. E Boehm in 1892. Though the present piece and Mus. Nos. 1892-128, 1892-127:1 and 1892-127:2 were acquired with a series of casts of hands through the Executors of the late Sir Joseph Edgar Boehm, those objects have been catalogued as unattributed, since they were executed before 1862 when Boehm settled in London.
