This relief in boxwood is of Flemish origin, made in the early18th century. It depicts the Annunciation. In Christianity, the Annunciation is the announcement of the Angel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary of her conception of Christ.

Physical description
This relief shows the Virgin kneeling at a prie-dieu. The angel stands before her blessing with his left hand and holding a lily branch in his right. On a pierced rococo base. The frame is grooved for a glass, and is carved with swage of flowers.
