This medal made by Rudolf Marschall in ca. 1904 in Austria depicts the bust of Ghega and commemorates the 50th anniversary of the Semmering-railway in Austria.
Von Ghega 91802-1860) was an engineer. He became most famous for his design and construction of the Semmering-railway from Gloggnitz to Mürzzuschlag. The crossing of the Semmering was not thought possible. Already in 1844 Ghaga submitted a plan for the crossing of the Semmering, with locomotives with no extra rail for gear wheels. Construction of the Semmeringbahn began in 1848 and took till 1854. He was knighted (Ritter) in 1851. He died of tuberculosis.
