This medal is made by Stefan Schwartz to commemorate Austria's participation at the International Exhibition 1900 in Paris.
Schwartz was an Austrian sculptor and medallist. He studied drawing at Budapest from the age of 14. There he also started working in silverware. Back in Vienna he worked with bronze and silver manufacturers Dziedzinski & Hanusch and Klinkosch. He then studied at study at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Vienna under the sculptor Otto König (1838–1920). In 1871 he founded his private studio in Vienna, but also continued teaching at the Kunstgewerbeschule where, in 1884, he was appointed a professor.
