'American and European Art and Design 1800-1900' Viollet-le-Duc was a self-taught architect and designer who achieved an international reputation. He was involved with the re-organisation of the national manufactories (which included Sèvres), with decorations for the wedding of Napoleon III in 1853 and with the restoration of many buildings, ecclesiastical and secular. These tiles, based on original prototypes, were designed for the Château d'Eu, which he restored for the Comte de Paris from 1874.(1987-2006)
