Place of origin |
Mariner II is one of a group of works by Keith Cummings (b.1940). He studied painting and glass technology and his pieces reflect an unusual imagination and an intense interest in materials. Working slowly, he assembles complex sculptures which, despite their small size, contain a wealth of references. The titles of the other sculptures in the series - Cutter, Ice Trigger, Sleeper, Garner, Rigger - also refer to nautical subjects but also have double-meanings.
