This Panel was made by Mallet in France (Paris), ca. 1855. The panel which was intended to form part of a cover for an album, was bought from the Parisian firm of Mallet, who apparently specialised in decorative work in ivory in the mid-nineteenth century.

Pierced ivory strapwork; marquetry of ivory and tortoise-shell, set with malachite, turquoise, and lapis-lazuli.
