Gallery label
55. Vase Designer unknown Made by the Weiner Kunstheramische Werkstatte Busch & Ludescher, Vienna, Austria, about 1910 Earthenware, hand-decorated C.70-1972 The Weiner Werkstatte were founded in 1903 in emulation of Ashbee's Guild Handicraft. The naturalistic ornament on this vase contrasts with the austerely geoemtrical patterns on early Weiner Werkstatte products. It signals the workshops' move towards a more varied style, prompted in part by a desire to widen the market appeal of its products.'
