Jug of black basalt ware, decorated with 'encaustic' painting in shades of red and white. Made in imitation of a Greek oenochoe of the sixth century B.C. On the front is an oblong red panel on which are reserved two sphinxes seated vis-à-vis with a bird between them, the details being painted in shades of red and white.
