Gallery label
PAIR OF VASES Marie-Anne Freund Decorator Paris: about 1800 Porcelain with painted decoration and gilding These vases are signed "Freund" in the painting. It is probable that they were painted by Marie-Anne Freund who is recorded as manufacturing porcelain with her husband Christian-Joseph Deuster at Rue Folie Mericourt in 1800. This record may be misleading and it is thought to be more likely that the couple ran a decorating workshop, where blank wares were bought in from outside manufacturers and painted for sale under their name.
