The front purse mount is of enamel on copper, decorated with a view of the Crystal Palace surrounded by an oval ring of opalescent glass beads, the whole framed by scrolled decoration of stamped silver and gold foils. Some of the silver foil stamped work is infilled with translucent green enamel. The decoration is coated with a final clear layer of enamel. The back mount is also enamel on copper decorated entirely with scrolled decoration of stamped silver and gold foils with some infilling with translucent green enamel, on a dark ground. The purse itself is made of red glazed cotton. The purse is mounted in gilded metal frames.
