Vase of tin-glazed earthenware, painted in dark blue and manganese-purple. Oviform, with short neck and two small loop handles. On each side is a lion rampant between two conventional borders, and round the neck is a wavy foliated band; the remaining surface is painted with sprays of foliage.

Object history | Historical significance: In 1878 Ulisse Cantagalli inherited a factory in Florence and began to trade as Manifattura Figli di Giuseppe Cantagalli. His main production was of copies of Italian maiolica, but also of other European and Middle Eastern ceramics. |
