Jug of buff-coloured earthenware, covered with a white slip, with sgraffito decoration under a yellow glaze. Elongated ovoid body, loop handle and mouth pinched in to form a lip. On the front is a male bust in ecclesiastical costume surrounded by a laurel wreath, with scrolls of acanthus foliage on either side. Round the neck is a border with a grotesque mask from the mouth of which spring two scrolled floral stems. The handle is decorated with a foliated band.

Made by Carlo and Giano Loretz & Co. of Milan, as a copy of an ewer now in the Salmoiraghi Collection at Pavia, made by Antonio Maria Cuzio of Pavia at the end of the 17th century.
