Flattish plate with shallow well and vertical border. Covered front and back with light blue tin-glaze. Painted in blue, orange, yellow and white. On the border, on a dark blue ground, grotesque decoration in pale blue and white with touches of yellow. In the centre a bust of a bearded man holding a book on a yellow background, surrounded by a central border of white sprays on light blue, and a wide outer border of arabesques in pale blue, touched with white and yellow on a dark blue background.
