Vase of tin-glazed earthenware painted in blue and red enamels and gilded. Of slender beaker shape with a spreading foot and lip. Square in section with faceted corners. On one side is a tall cartouche framed in relief scrollwork. Painted within this is a scene of a man standing near a barrel outside a building and drinking from a flask. The border is elaborated with painted leafy sprays. On the reverse is painted a Chinoiserie design with a duck seated on a stand, surrounded by three lotus sprays, and pendant flower sprays above and below. A Chinese-style lozenge diaper band encircles the lip.
