Eight fragments probably from two or three vessels, fritware, finely potted, painted with broad black bands forming a grid or checkerboard with fine incised (sgrafitto) lines cut though for a second grid, covered in a clear glaze on both sides. The glaze has irridized.

Gerald Roberts Reitlinger (1900-1978) was an art historian, who in 1930-1, was part of an archaeological excavation at Kish in the Near East financed by the Field Museum, Chicago and in 1932 at Al-Hirah, financed by Oxford.
