Fragments of four different water jars, unglazed white 'eggshell' earthenware. The shoulder of C.300A-1931 is moulded with an inscription nasta'liq reading 'Ali' (in part) on a dotted ground, presumably inspired by punched grounds on precious metalware. There are traces of the pierced grill at the neck of the filter. C.300-1931 also bears a moulded inscription.

Physical description
Fragments of four different water jars, unglazed white 'eggshell' earthenware. Gerald Roberts Reitlinger (1900-1978) was an art historian, who in 1930-1, was part of an archaeological excavation at Kish in the Near East financed by the Field Museum, Chicago, and in 1932 at Al-Hirah, financed by the University of Oxford.
