Gallery label
Malcolm Baker has noted that this drawing is related to Roubilliac's monument to Daniel Lock in Trinity College Chapel. It differs in detail from the finished monument, but shows design features characteristic of Roubilliac. On the back is a chalk sketch of the head and arm of a man leaning on his correct left hand.
Production
This drawing was offered for sale to the Museum as anonymous but is clearly related to the monument of Daniel Lock in the chapel of Trinity College, Cambridge. This drawing is in many ways comparable to other Roubilliac drawings, for example, for the Argyll Monument (museum number 8381).
