Jug of tin-glazed earthenware painted with enamels. Pear-shaped with a spreading foot, loop handle and projecting lip. Sides moulded with slight ribs and painted with a spray of carnations and sprigs of other flowers.

Originally attributed to just Germany and middle of 18th century.
Historical context
Note in Register: Stated by Prof. K. Csanyi of the Budapesth Museum to be of Proskau faience (19 Jan.1931). This view is almost certainly erroneous; the jug must be of Crailsheim faience, see Gretsch (Refs.).

Note in Register: In the opinion of Mon. Paul Berendt, made at Lenzburg (June 1954).
