Historical context
Such baskets or tureens were listed in the 1769 Worcester sale catalogue as 'oval cream basons, covers and plates, enamelled with Dresden flowers' and were sold in pairs (S. Spero and J. Sandon, Worcester Porcelain ... The Zorensky Collection, 1996, no 393-5).
