Oval plaque of Jasper ware with a black ground and applied white bas-relied design, mounted in a gilt metal frame with a loop for hanging as a pendant. A lion mask forms the top of the frame. The scene depicts three semi naked females in classical drapery. The foreground figure is the goddess Hygeia. She sits forward on a tree stump with a snake wound around her extended arm. The snake recoils from the flames atop an altar.
