| Object history | Extract from donor's letter: "This I dug out of a pile of shards. This piece was 12 feet from the surface. There were thousands just the same as this with almost no dirt. It was an old kiln site, a tree on this mound was almost 6 feet through so no pots had been made here for years. A road had been cut through at this point and we worked into the bank several feet. The whole wall of this cut in the road is one solid mass of these shards." The place of finding is given as Dehua. |
