This moonlit view in Hiroshige's uchiwa-e (rigid fan print) design shows the landing-point of the Onmayagashi ferry crossing on the western bank of the Sumida river just north of the shogunate's rice granary in Edo's Asakusa district. Three courtesans in summer attire, one of them holding an umbrella and another a fan, are about to alight from the boat. Behind them, just visible on the horizon to the south, is Ryogoku Bridge, and to the left the 'Okawabata' or Great River-bank area.
