Square dish circa 1790-1800 hard-paste porcelain with tin-glaze painted in colours length 21,2 cm under painted “10.” inv. C.515-1914 gift: Lt. Col. K. Dingwall, DSO through The Art Fund This square dish is decorated “al mazzetto”, that is, with a series of little bouquets of flowers scattered over the surface of the dish. The shape of the dish was defined as “a sei chicchere” meaning for six coffee cups (GINORI LISCI 1963, p. 76). This shape and the simplicity of the painted flowers suggest a date between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century. For further information on the “mazzetto” decoration and its stylistic evolution at Doccia, see CASPRINI 2000, p. 191-195. L.F.M. Bibliography: unpublished
